The model represents HX922 of RNZAF 487 Squadron, tragically shot down during Operation Jericho on 18 February 1944. This daring low-level raid targeted the prison at Amiens, aiming to free members of the French Resistance held by Nazi forces. Unfortunately, the crew — Pilot Flying Officer R. W. “Bob” Ibbotson and Navigator Flying Officer G. F. “George” Sampson — were both killed in the crash.
